All-Natural Landis Peanut Butter

Did you know that those big-name commercial peanut butter brands can contain up to 10% of "other stuff" and still be called "peanut butter?" Most commercial brands contain hydrogenated vegetable oils and added sweeteners, usually High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS).

All-Natural Landis Peanut Butter has only 2 ingredients: peanuts and salt. You can also get Landis Unsalted Peanut Butter, if you prefer. Nothing could be simpler.

No Hydrogenated Oils or Trans Fat

If you're familiar with natural peanut butter, you know that the oils separate and you have to spend a few moments stirring all the natural ingredients back together again. Manufacturers add partially hydrogenated vegetable oils to the mix so that it never separates, saving you those few seconds of stirring. However, this small convenience has a very large price tag. Hydrogenation is a process that rearranges the fatty acid molecules and creates trans fatty acids, which have been implicated as a cause of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, obesity and sterility.

Landis All-Natural Peanut Butter contains only beneficial monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. These fats have been shown to help lower blood cholesterol levels, which may reduce your risk of coronary heart disease.

No High Fructose Corn Syrup or Sweeteners

Why do those big manufacturers add sweeteners to their peanut butter? The answer is simple: the big name peanut butter brands use low quality peanuts to save money. Adding High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is a cheap way to mask the poor taste of inferior peanuts, and make their products more palatable.

HFCS mixes well in many foods, is cheap to produce and easy to store. It's used in everything from bread to pasta sauces, as well as many "health products" like protein bars and "natural" sodas. This may be one of the reasons Americans continue to get fatter.
